François Beaufort revealed a new protocol that Google is actually working on it as an improvement to the standard UDP called : QUIC. The new protocol code is available in the Chromium repository and the first commits are four months old. UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is one of the core members of the Internet protocol suite, mainly used for streaming and unidirectional communication. QUIC add some extra features to UDP such as encryption. Chrome could already run QUIC with –enable-quic, however there are no QUIC server yet to test the protocol, which could be standard or proprietary ?

Anyway, you can say QUIC is a fast TCP protocol or a secure UDP protocol, but as there are no description yet of the protocol we cannot say more on this new technology ! The next month will certainly reveal more, and Chrome seems to be the first to have this new technology implemented !
