Matthew Weier O’Phinney, Project Lead Zend Framework, blogged today about the future of Zend Framework. After the acquisition of Zend in 2015 by Rogue Wave Software, the new company recently made a strategic decision to focus its efforts solely on the Zend Server product of the Zend portfolio. Which means that will no longer continue to actively develop the framework, which will remain being supported under the Zend Server service license agreements. Matthew blogged :

this means both myself and Enrico Zimuel will be leaving the company and looking for new opportunities in the not-too-distant future, along with Zeev Suraski and Dmitry Stogov.

This mean also that Zend Framework, which the popularity decreased in the last years compared to Symfony and Laravel, may or may not continue in the future. Matt is evaluating options to ensure its continuation and longevity, including finding a new corporate sponsor for the project, or forming a foundation.

Are you using ZF now in your project ?
