Operator is the last Firefox extension that is making buzz around the community with its new innovative idea to demonstrate the power of semantic information usage in real world scenarios. Operator lets you combine pieces of information on Web sites with applications in ways that are useful. For instance, Flickr + Google Maps, Upcoming.org + Google Calendar, Yahoo! Local + your address book, and many more possibilities and permutations. Mozilla labs have written an extended review of what you can do with Operator. I find it really amazing the possibilities of things that you can do with this extension, and below few of them :

  • Send the phone number of your favorite pizza place from Yahoo! Local directly to your address book
  • See the next events on Upcoming.org on your calendar, or its location on Google maps
  • Find photos on Flickr with the same tags of another photo used in a blog post for example
  • Someone have geotagged a photo ? You can directly see its position on Google maps !
