I have emailed recently Jared White, one of the developers of XAJAX, and he pointed me to a project he’s working on WillowGarden. Today the project have just been launched with the first developer preview, a new PHP5 based framework which aims to provide a rapid plateform for bringing the next wave of applications to life.

Once you’ve taken a walk through Willowgarden, you’ll never want to go back. It’s the perfectly understandable, infinitely extensible Web application platform built for PHP 5. It gives you the tools you need to design and develop great Web sites using an elegant optimized environment, yet you can easily tailor that environment to suit your particular and diverse needs.
The days of conforming to a one-size-fits-all framework you don’t really grok are over. Why waste your time? Come and take a walk in the garden, and put the power of Willowgarden to work for you.

For more details check the project website at www.willowgarden.org. Also wait for the interview this week (I hope) with Jared, talking about many stuff, mainly about web 2.0, AJAX, WillowGarden … The interview will be available very soon on the AJAX Magazine
