I have been waiting for this ! Gmail for mobile was the most useful feature I’ve been looking for. I have already tryed Open Source project to use Gmail from my Nokia 6630, but got problems with the wap version, until I found a xhtml version which was working fine but still buggy, and it still hosted online at gmobile.phpmagazine.net (non official). Google today make their mobile version and I think I’ll update my bookmark to use it.

Now you can access your Gmail account from your mobile phone or device. Just point your phone’s web browser to http://m.gmail.com. Your Gmail account stays synched, whether you access it from the web or the mobile interface. It’s easy to use and it’s free (but yes, your wireless plan could still charge you).

The main features of Gmail for mobile are :
• Automatically optimizes the interface for the phone you’re using
• Opens the attachments you receive in messages, including photos, Microsoft Word documents and .pdf files
• Lets you reply by call to people whose phone numbers are in your Gmail Contacts list
What I found interesting is the presentation of the webmail, thing I already talk about in the php 4 mobile magazine. For example in the index page you got already the new emails, inspite of menu in other webmails for mobile which make less clicks to read your email. There will be later a full review about it in the php 4 mobile if you are more interested to solutions for mobile phones.
