After the difficult, but successful launch of Google Analytics, Google looks to work hard to improve this service to make it available for more users with better results. Certainly the demand on Google Analytics was more than huge at its launch for the simple reason that Urchin is very known as an excellent commercial product, and many have difficulties to get it for its price.
Google Analytics was the answer for all those persons and more, two days after its official launch I remember that every site I visit was using Google Analytics. It was amazing how all those people heared about it and start already using this service. The reason that make the first data available after 4 days, while 48 hours only was announced.

Over the past couple of weeks, our team has been working hard to add additional capacity to handle the extraordinarily strong demand for Google Analytics. Due to the huge demand, we had to temporarily disable new signups and halt the adding of additional profiles for our current users. We also know that many of our current users experienced delays in their reporting data, which has improved since we added more capacity last week.

In the latest update :

  • performance of Google Analytics Improved. Enough capacity have been added that most users are now able to see reports with data as fresh as 3 to 6 hours. Interesting to see fresh informations and reports in time !.
  • Incrementally re-enabling the addition of profiles. Not everyone will be able to do this up front, but its slowly enabling more and more users to be able add profiles as they add more capacity.
  • Linking of Google Analytics accounts with AdWords accounts re-enabled. All users can now link their Google Analytics accounts with their AdWords accounts, and import AdWords cost data automatically into their Google Analytics reports.

Google don’t reveal any details about the number of accounts created, how much their servers can support or when they will be able to support more customers. But they are working to add more hardware ressources and improve their network architecture to make it support more and more users. I was surprise that in the beginning it took 4 days until the first results was displayed, their system wasn’t dimensionned correctly, or they didn’t know exactly how much it could support. But it could be predicted that such service require lot of ressources and also will attract lot of developers, webmasters and marketers.
