Google Base is Google’s Database into which you can add all types of content. Google host your content and make it searchable for free ! The itmes that you can add in Google base could be :
- Description of your party planning service.
- Articles on current events from your website
- Listing of your used cars for sale.
- Database of protein structure.
You can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people find it when they search Google Base. In fact, based on the relevance of your items, they may also be included in the main google search index and other google products like Froogle and google local
Google base looks not yet active for everyone, and it will be announced officially at the Google Zeitgeist’05 Partner Forum, according to the new google blog.
The screenshot below have been posted at the sewseo blog, and showing the edit form to enter new data in the google base, the structure is prepared by the user. Items could be text,number, NumbersUnit or even image. And it’s possible to extend your database and add new items. Possibility to upload dump file, I don’t yet the details about their SQL format, but you can see it in the first screenshot.
Is Google database is going to be the next replacement for MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle ? Or is it an initiative to let people introduce directly their content in the google base without having the pain to index it ? I’m excited to give it a try !
