Minimo is one of the Mozilla projects that represent the future of the foundation, the firefox browser for mobile phones is certainly the more important today in a large market where competition is on its highest level. Doug Turner has announced that France Telecom Research and Development (FTRD) has been contributing to Minimo Development, reported the MozillaZine

“FTRD has helped fund Minimo development, has provided engineering resources, and has provided user feedback,” Doug explained to MozillaZine. “This relationship has helped move Minimo forward.” However, Doug emphasised that “there is no corporate control of Minimo”, stating that he is “still in control of all major aspects of the application”. He reassured us that “FTRD has not defined the direction or look-and-feel” of Minimo.

“We truly have a shared interest in producing a browser for the devices space designed by people that use devices,” Doug concluded. He also confirmed that FTRD’s involvement is part of the reason why Minimo development has accelerated recently and why the Minimo Mini-Roadmap was published in August.

This sounds very interesting, to have firefox working also on mobile phone. Currently it is supporting just a few list of devices that you can find here.
