Satellite imagery of New Orleans taken on Wednesday, August 31st is now available on Google Maps. Very fast reaction of Google who make this feature available so developers could use Google maps in the development of hurricane relief sites.

To access the new Katrina images using Google API you can use this new Javascript, If you are using the default set of map types, your maps will automatically start showing this button. If you are manually setting map types, you can access the new map type with G_KATRINA_MAP. Source Google maps discussion group
