Sponsored Post : There are many interesting tools that SEO experts uses daily, but it happen when you are browsing the web, searching for any information, you want to check some marketing and SEO related data on the fly ? SEO for Firefox is the extension that will provide you these information directly on Google and Yahoo! search results just for Firefox users.
The extension could be installed directly from the extension’s website, then restart your Firefox. After installation you will have the SEO for Firefox icon displayed colorful in the statusbar. You can simply click on that icon to turn it On or Off. It’s great to have such information just by a click without leaving the browser.
Before using the extension it’s interesting to see the different features and data that the extension provide and make the adequate settings. There is in total 15 parameters that you can read in front of each search engine result beginning with the Page Rank, Age, Links (Yahoo! linkdomain), .edu Links (Yahoo! .edu linkdomain), .edu Page Links (Yahoo! .edu link), .gov Link (Yahoo! .gov linkdomain), Page Links (Yahoo! link), del.icio.us, Technorati, Alexa, Cached, dmoz, Bloglines, dir.yahoo.com, MSN Links, MSN .edu Links, MSN .gov Links, MSN Page Links, MSN .edu Page Links and Whois.
By default all these options are available on demand, so you can start by changing the settings to auto check for the most relevant information that interest you. On the extension’s website you can find some recommendation to tweak the settings, for example anything that you have on Auto should have at least a 1 second delay, and it’s recommended to put Bloglines, Del.icio.us and Technorati on On-Demand. If you want to put more data from Yahoo on auto it’s better to use a 5 seconds delay and finally the author suggest to put Alexa.com and Archive.org site age on at least a couple second delay if they are on Auto. Notice if a particular data don’t interest you or you want to remove it from results simply change its status to Hidden in the extension settings.
A tool that you’ll find very useful if you would like to get such information quickly without leaving your browser. The only inconvenient I have found that with lot of information displayed together it will be difficult to read and make comparison between results. There is plans to include CSV export in the future, but I would prefer if the tool display the results as graphs. It’s not difficult to do and the readability of results will be certainly much better than numbers.
Notice that the extension might be conflicting with other extensions using the same concept of changing the search engine results such CustomizeGoogle and Firefox BetterSearch. So if you have those extensions or similar be sure to disable first before testing. I don’t have similar extensions installed on my Firefox now so I don’t know what will happen exactly if a conflict exist, Surprise ! But I’m really curious to know.
