I’m not a big fan of Red Hat Linux, but when I heard that they obtained the highest government security rating EAL4 Augmented with ALC_FLR.3, I think that the whole Linux and Open source community is very proud!

IBM delivered Labeled Security Protection Profile (LSPP) functionality in Red Hat Linux according to Dan Frye, vice president of open systems with IBM, and has certified that at the EAL4 level of assurance. This put Red Hat on a par with Solaris, most commonly used in governments applications.
Red Hat Linux got its ticket for Government, and this is a great showcase for those who don’t believe that open source commercial solutions could get such high security certifications.
